Dr Hamilton completed medical school at the University of Newcastle. He undertook his ophthalmology specialist training at Sydney Eye Hospital and is a fellow of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO).

After completing his training in Sydney, he spent two years gaining further subspecialist experience at the two largest eye hospitals in the United Kingdom. At Manchester Royal Eye Hospital he completed a corneal and refractive surgery fellowship. He then completed a medical retina fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. He has travelled to New York and Paris to gain further international experience working with world experts in cataract and refractive surgery.

Dr Hamilton has particular expertise in:

1) Corneal / anterior segment surgery:
• Treatment of corneal diseases & keratoconus / corneal cross linking
• Corneal transplantation
• Refractive (laser) surgery
• Cataract surgery (including after LASIK)

2) Medical retinal conditions:
• Macular degeneration
• Diabetic eye disease / diabetic retinopathy
• Retinal vein occlusions

Dr Hamilton holds an honorary academic position at the University of Sydney, is actively involved in research and has published in international journals.

Dr Hamilton aims to provide the highest quality eye surgery. He believes in clear communication and patient-centered care.

As well as his clinical work in Australia, Dr Hamilton remains committed to public health and improving the quality of health globally. He holds a Master of Public Health and investigated the African HIV epidemic at the World Health Organization in Geneva. He also previously worked as a management consultant at the Boston Consulting Group in London.

Dr Hamilton speaks fluent French and Spanish.
